SETH Close-out Celebration
SETH Cohort of Changemakers, mentors and trainers exchange words of appreciation at the Close-out Celebration.
It has been 6 months since the SETH Launch event on 29 Feb, which coincided with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In response to the crisis, TBN Asia pivoted our programs and events to help social enterprises survive and thrive amidst the storm.
The urgency of the situation saw cause to expedited plans - our Changemakers had to prepare to pitch at the TBN Asia Virtual Conference held ahead of schedule on 26-28 May. The conference drew an overwhelming crowd of 800 delegates and raised over 60K SGD of sponsorship.(100% of sponsorship goes directly to social enterprises.) SETH Changemakers had the spotlight as speakers and presenters in conference sessions such as 'CEOs Need Support Too', 'Founders and Funders for Good' and a 6 hr virtual world cafe which featured 74 social enterprises from over 6 countries.

More than 50 potential investors, funders and volunteers tuned in to the SETH follow-up webinar and signed up as applicants, mentors or coaches for the next SETH cohort.
Trustlaw hosted an elective workshop for SETH.
Trainers and specialists offered their support and co-hosted/sponsored a total of 12 elective workshops, ranging from Finance to Marketing, for the cohort. SETH welcomed new partnerships with Thomas Routers TrustLaw, raiSE (Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise), MaGIC (Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre) and YCAB Foundation and SIF (Singapore International Foundation) as well as guests speakers like Daniel Flynn (Co-Founder,Thankyou Au) and Prof. Matthew Tan (CEO, Assentoft Aquaculture 4.0) who further enriched the program in TBN Asia's webinar series.

After the intensive exposure and training of the Conference and workshops, 4 Changemakers pitched to 35 investors from Singapore and Australia at 2 separate close-door pitch events organized by TBN Asia's Investor Club on 28 Jul and 11 Aug.

2020 has been a roller-coaster ride so far, but the team and participants came out of this storm stronger and more determined to face the challenges ahead.
Everyone took a moment to let our hair down with a fun hat party theme and icebreaker games at the close-out celebration. Words of appreciation were exchanged between the Changemakers, mentors and SETH team members, and many shared the successes and silver linings they have had despite the damper economic climate. Our SETH Lead, Wayne Chia, summed this up perfectly when he mentioned the significance of the Chinese characters for Crisis (危机) which is made out of two words 'Danger' and 'Opportunity'.
We believe the SETH Changemakers will continue to press on and overcome the adversities during the pandemic. They will always have the support of their mentors and TBN Asia community behind them.
SETH Cohort 2 will kick off on 2 Sept 2020.
